Latest news 2020
We are delivering to Uppsala during Corona. Picking up a basket is a good way to avoid going to the store. Everything in the basket is grow on the farm so there is nothing imported in it. To get a vegetable basket you do the following: We are still accepting new members.
Contact Karin (press "contact" below) and fill in the form and send it. I will get back to you with information about how to join our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) including files about options for pick-up locations and how to pay for your basket.
When you write I will send files about how to become a member and subscribe to a CSA basket. There is room left in most of the groups and I will send a file with their locations so you can choose a group most convenient for you.
Deliveries to the groups start in late July or beginning of August but you can get in touch the whole year with interest and get on the waiting list if we are full at the moment. Last baskets are in DEcember and we offer a Christmas basket most years.
If all the groups are full we usually have an opportunity to pick up on the farm the first year and then get a spot in a group. The farm is a short bus trip from Uppsala and close to the bus stop. You can also drive here.
How Corona has affected us: This year more people living locally are applying instead of going abroad to volonteer. If you are living in Sweden and interested we still have room in late September until mid-December.
How it was different this year, 2020: We usually open the farm for volunteers in February to start sowing and only take our apprentice and one more helper. Then gradually we take a couple more until the weeding season which starts in June and then we have up to 12 helpers.
This year everyone who came earlier has stayed, new people have come and we were sheltering some volunteers who could not return to their country so we had full house. It was a sweet group and they kept us warm by doing the fire with wood from our woods and they also shopped for us as we are in quarantine.
We cancelled our April meeting where members usually come and meet on the farm, get shown around, shop for vegetables still available from the harvest, like potatoes and beets etc.
This year we wrote to members and offered them a basket of what we had at home and they could reserve it and come and pick up on the farm after pre-paying it. There will be opportunities to get fresh vegetables also as they develop. This was a sucess so we may do it next year too.
Later people came out to the farm and pick berries in season and at the moment (September)there are still apples to pick.
Feel free to write with questions. To learn more about us and how CSA works you can read "Overview" and "Joining Our CSA" below. We are taking new members the whole year either to start with a basket now or reserve a spot next year.
Overview
Here at Ramsjögård, we are growing around 100 different kinds of KRAV certified vegetables, potatoes and grains. We sell our products in baskets, which are delivered every week to multiple groups (obs! only Uppsala). We deliver locally to Björklinge, Uppsala, and surrounding areas. You may join a delivery group or pick up locally from the farm. Deliveries start at the beginning of August, but you are welcome to join at any point if there is availability.
Everything that goes into the baskets are grown right here on the farm. By joining our CSA, not only are you able to buy locally grown, organic vegetables that are nourishing and free from chemicals, you are also supporting your local, sustainable farmer and sharing part of the farm's harvest.
Members are also welcome to pick berries and apples in season and join in production, learning how to grow vegetables and live sustainably. Over the years, members have learned to follow the seasons and prepare meals based on what is in season.

Joining Our CSA
When you become a member, you subscribe to 15 baskets, which are delivered or picked up from the farm between July/early August. Baskets are delivered once per week through the summer and early fall, bi-weekly starting around November, and once per month sometimes through winter. To see a list of the types of produce we put in our baskets, please visit the Product List.
To become a member, there is a one-time membership fee of 200:- for the first year. When you pay that you are also part of the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) system where you reserve the 15 baskets and we grow them for you, knowing how many people we are growing for. Therefor it is optimal for us that you join in the spring before the season so we can plan but we usually grow extra so there is room to take in more members during the season.
This is also a commitment which lets you reserve a spot in a group for the season. Once you are a member, you may renew your basket subscription each year for as long as you wish.
Cost:
Whole Basket: 280kr
Half Basket: 180kr
Share Basket (2 Half Baskets delivered as one): 340kr
Membership fee: 200kr (first year only)
To join a delivery group, we will send you a list of all group locations and you can find the one that is closest for you. At the moment there is room in most groups. If a group is full, you can be put on the waiting list or chose another group until a spot opens up. We also make new groups according to demand. If you know of an appropriate location for a new group, please let us know.
You can join anytime during the year and if you join later in the season you only pay for the baskets you get.
We base our system on mutual trust between the members and the farmer (Anders) and we listen to you if you want us to grow a vegetable we do not yet have. There is always a vast variety of all the vegetables that can grow in Sweden. We also offer tips about cooking these vegetables in our Northern Foods Cookbook (see "recipes and health tips").

Commonly Asked Questions:
Can I cancel some of my baskets or start later?
You can start later in the season or after the holidays, but we expect that you get the entire subscription of vegetables we have reserved for you. It is OK for someone to pick up the basket if you are away but they need to know how to find your basket, bring bags and leave the empty box folded. You may also take a double basket on occasion if you need to miss one. If you cancel a basket we need to be told at least a week in advance. Again, since you are sharing the harvest and we are reserving the vegetables it is best for us if you can find someone to pick up your basket.
What are members privileges?
Reserved baskets August through December plus winter baskets when we have vegetables in stock. Sometimes we have open house or a market in conjunction with the members meeting every spring and at that time you can come to the farm to shop or order more of a specific vegetable to pick up at the farm. You can bring people along who are interested in the baskets.
We also have a permaculture or forest garden with strawberries, fruit trees, raspberries, asparagus and more and members can come out and pick for members prices.
As a member, you are welcome to come out and help with farm work, pack baskets, or simply visit for a look around. We are only 20 kilometres north of Uppsala and the bus goes often. Contact us for directions.
For anymore questions, please contact Karin and Anders.
